Something Wicked This Way Comes- Needle Felted Jack-o-lantern

Something Wicked This Way Comes... I simply wanted some pumpkins of my own for Halloween this year. As I watched them grow each one turned out cute and round and full of promise.... except for one.  Something went terribly wrong with this seedling. As it grew it became more and more gaunt, it's lines began to set in deep furrows.
What did I do wrong with this pumpkin? I talked to it, encouraged it, just like I did to all my other pumpkins. Feeling like I had failed this little seedling I hung my head and went into the house for the night. The next morning I went out to the pumpkin patch hoping whatever was wrong with this guy had righted itself.
I was wrong. In front of me sat a pumpkin with an evil grin and teeth baring at me. Fearing what he was going to say to me I braced for the worse. His lips pulled back with a creaking moan and his black eyes bored a hole in me.
Finally he spoke "Ummm... would you mind chasing this spider off my stem? His feet are very furry and he's tickling me!" Lesson learned; Never judge a pumpkin by his grin.

Needlefelted Headless Horseman and Pneumonia....still.

This is exactly how I'm feeling.  I'm still sick with pneumonia and am on another extended round of antibiotics.  My head feels like it's detached from my body and the world is just passing me by as I do nothing but lay on the couch, read and watch TV.
I haven't got my needles out and felted for ages but it occurred to me that this Headless Horseman was exactly how I'm feeling!  To read more about him click HERE.

Needle Felted Headless Horseman at McBride House!

He had been searching for days and finally, out of the corner of his vision he saw it.
It was the perfect pumpkin, round, plump and a beautiful orange colour.
As he stooped and picked up the glowing pumpkin there was only one question on his mind.
Would it fit?
So what do you think?  Does it fit?

Haunted Halloween House

I think I've mentioned before that I love houses?  Well after making my Church I went completely in the opposite direction and made a Haunted House!
The front of the house has a little 3-D pumpkin and a potted shrub along with crooked shutters and creepy vines.
You can see in this picture the sculpted shingles on the roof.  Very time consuming to do them, but so worth it!
This side and the back has a tree growing up and around the roof and if you look really closely you can see a bone sticking out from under the shrub.
The back with the tree and a broken window covered up by boards.  See the smoke coming from the top of the chimney?  Somebody must be home keeping the home fires burning!
Ahhh.... that's who's keeping the fire going!  A little ghost!  I'll bet he'll sneak into the package when I mail this to a unsuspecting customer!

My Favourite Time of Year

I love fall. The air is crisp, clean, easy to breath, the colours are brilliant, things seem peaceful. It's a season of change, of winding down but gearing up all at the same time. I've been working on some felting items for McBride House and really enjoying using my stash of autumnal colours.

First up is my Pumpkin Carriage. Just a little bit of whimsy based Cinderella's coach.
Next is a stack of three pumpkins needle felted together in beautiful muted russet colours.
Finally is my "Fat Man in a Skeleton Suit". I'm not sure if this is Santa Claus or just a fat man, but either way he was a lot of fun to create!
I'll make no "bones" about it, I used artistic licence when it came to bone placement!
Close up of his little Jack-o-lantern that he's hoping to fill with all sorts of treats!
