These are made with any worsted weight or medium weight yarn and only use a single crochet and double crochet stitch. For a steampunk look I think they would be really nice done in black too.

These are beautiful! And I agree, they would have a totally different look done in black. Going to check out etsy. A pattern to be used often.
Thanks everybody! I've just finished listing them on Etsy and since it's another snowday I think I will go make myself a pair in black! Kind of fits my mood and reaction to another storm! LOL!
