The Birch Tree

This was by far my biggest felting challenge to date! My mother-in-law asked me to felt a winter scene on a beautiful black wool shawl and this is what I came up with. A birch tree rises from the back of the shawl and branches out along the shoulders,

and wraps around the front.

A few scattered leaves gently fall from from the branches.
