Needle Felted Green Men

One of my favourite things to make are Green Men.  Wanting to make more than just the traditional greened leaved green man I've expanded my line to include all four seasons.  Below are just a few of the green men that I've created over the years!
Deep in the woods there awaits a special soul ready to emerge from his sleepy winter slumber. He dreams of the time of year when the buds will burst, the flowers grow and the trees spread their leaves to the skies above. Sun will soon pour down on his secret nest and awaken him to the songs of robins, singing his name to help bring green back to the barren earth. Yes, soon the Green Man will rise and Spring will be here again.
A horned version of the great man.
A purse version that went to a very lovely and excited woman from the Amherst, NS Fibre Fest sale.

A little brighter version make with merino wool.

This one is currently available at my shop!

The very first one.  This one will always hold a special spot in my heart as he was bought by a very great man who will be dearly missed.

The days are getting longer and little bits of green are beginning to spring forth from beneath winters weary carpet. There is a feeling of renewal coming that is simmering just beneath the surface. The sap is flowing in the trees, maple buds are beginning to show their red tips and the geese fly overhead morning and night.

Soon laundry will be flapping on the line, children will be jumping in mud puddles and skipping with their new skipping ropes. And deep in the woods the Spring Green Man watches it all unfold.

Now the days are getting shorter and the leaves are beginning to change from their luxurious greens to the most spectacular reds, oranges and purples. There is a crispness to the air and even though it's the end of the summer it feels like the beginning of something new.

Flannel sheets will soon go on the bed, kids are anxiously awaiting the first day of school and the apples are red, ripe and ready to be picked. And deep in the woods the Autumn Green Man watches it all unfold.

I always loved the expression of this one!

This is the first Fall Green Man I made.  I had the idea and he came to life on a bus trip to Quebec City.

The stars are bright, the night is crisp and Old Man Winter is over looking his domain. In the morning every branch will be coated in a soft layer of snow, the ground laden with the white stuff. The kids will awaken to frosted panes of glass on their bedroom windows and will excitedly peer out them wondering if it will be a snow day.

The parents wonder what will be in store for them; a day of sliding, skiing, snowshoeing? Perhaps it will be a day curled up by the fireplace sipping hot chocolate and reminiscing about their own childhood memories of winter. Regardless of the days event, one thing is known for sure...Old Man Winter sure does know how to make this world we live in a little bit more beautiful.

This is a newer version of the Winter Green Man and he is available at my Shop!

Spring has Sprung in New Brunswick Canada!

I don't want to jinx anything by saying it but.... I think spring has finally come to my little part of the world!  The temperatures are rising, the snow is melting, and the gnomes have cleaned out their doors and are starting to think about emerging from their dens!  :0)
This little guy is sure ready for spring!  I found him sitting as happily as can be sunning himself on our wood pile.... I hope the cats don't see him!  Happy Spring everyone!

Happy Spring Everybody!

Happy Spring Everybody!  The sap is flowing, the sun is shining, hope is near!  This is one of the sap buckets we have hung about our property for the annual Maple Syrup production so popular in this part of the world.  For us, however, it is a new adventure and one met with great gusto from DH.  I confess it is rather exciting and I myself was out at 6:30 am in my pajamas's, winter boots and one of DH's plaid coats checking the sap buckets to see how much was in them!

Can It Be So?

My dear fellow Bloggers I can't believe it, but look! A tiny little patch of Crocus in my front garden!
Not five feet away from this delightful little patch is a snowbank that is still 6 feet tall, but I try to ignore it like a big white elephant in the room! I'm determined that Spring has finally arrived to this part of "the great white north"!

Can you tell that Loopie is an indoor cat? He decided to come out with me for a bit of sun and fresh air but he looks absolutely terrified! I was afraid his eyes would pop out of his head!

Frosty is obviously our outdoor cat... look at that look of satisfaction that Spring has arrived! I'm afraid my face is a cross between the two... pleased to see the fresh signs of Spring, but terrified that it will be taken from me! Happy Easter everyone!

Spring is Coming?!

I can't believe it, but I think Spring might actually be coming to my house! I recently discovered that I live in a bowl and all the snow gathers here and takes forever to melt! All around me the snow is melting fast and there are definite signs of spring, but here... snow. This is the view from the back of my place. See the fields beyond? Hardly any snow. See all the snow in the front? My house.
However, the last few days has brought rain, mist, and fog and the snow has parted and lo and behold... green! LOOK! Daffodils! At least 3 inches high!

And Phlox! Imagine! Little shoots of green and yellow everywhere the snow isn't! Which isn't much, but it's something! It gives me hope.

I'm Dreaming of Spring!

I've been dreaming of Spring to come early this year, but I don't think that will happen, so I've been making felted sheep instead!Silly Sheep! I can't stop them from forming cheer leading pyramids!
This is Daisy. She's a real go getter, loves long walks on the beach and strawberry ice cream! Although judging from her size she should probably lay off the ice cream! She's looking for warmer greener pastures and is also tired of these Canadian winters! I'm going to help her write up her Etsy listing latter today.
Now I'd like to introduce you to Baa Baa Black Sheep. He likes to be called Baa Baa for short. Baa Baa is also looking for a new home but he's very shy and wants me to do his Etsy write up. He loves to snuggle up in front of the fire and read a good book and he's a great listener.
This is Arabella. Arabella is very intelligent, for a sheep, and already has her listing on Etsy. You can see her profile by clicking here.
Now this poor little rabbit was so lonely that she was the only rabbit that she sneaked into my roving stash and put on a sheep's coat! I tried to convince her that it was okay to be the only rabbit, but she really loves her wool coat! Silly rabbit!
Everybody is made out of 100% wool from Briggs and Little, the oldest woolen mill in Canada that is located right here in New Brunswick!
