A few Christmases ago, when the money seemed to be extra tight, and I was sick with a cold, I just couldn't bring myself to spend the $15.00 it cost to buy a wreath for my door. So in desperation, out I went dressed warmly and with pruners in hand and headed for the woods. I cut boughs of spruce, fir, white pine, red pine, beach branches with their papery brown leaves still attached and wild rose hips from the roses that thrive along the side of the road. I wired them together with snare wire and attached a recycled bow from a special present from the year before and ta da, a tradition emerged! Now every year I look forward to making my special Christmas "Wreath".

It's beautiful! I love decorating with clippings from my yard. Cedar and holly are what I have. And I pick up pinecones when I go walking.

I used to do that, too, but now I live in the desert and it's really hard to find stuff to make a Christmas wreath with :( Really enjoyed seeing yours!

I don't think you could have purchased anything more beautiful than you have created here. It is very rich and lovely. I think perhaps I will do this for my doors this year. I am tired of my store bought wreaths, and I have many pine trees.Perhaps I will tuck in some roadside bittersweet and white painted branches too! Thanks for the idea.

Thanks for the comments everybody! I think making my wreath and decorating the Christmas Tree are the two things that I couldn't do without!
Hi Bella. What you have created here is lovely.... A store bought wreath couldn;t hold a candle to it!! I am not decorating this year as we won't be here.... but next year for sure! Thanks for sharing..
