Spring and Summer Adventures!

I have decided that I am going to enjoy this Spring/Summer! I'm usually so tired and working so much during the summer months that summer just passes me by and before I know it winter has arrived. Well not this year! So yesterday we hoped in the car, cameras, snacks and sunscreen in tow and off we headed!

Where to go? Well we just started out towards Sussex and up past Poley Mountain following Trout Creek. Along the way we stopped along the side of the road and scampered down a very precarious path and look what we found!


Where to next? Let's keep following the road and see where it leads us! As we were driving I noticed a place along the road that looked like a place to pull off. "Let's see if there is a reason", we said. Well, a reason indeed! This waterfall was far more spectacular than the other! The rocks were eroded away and there were little caves all along the rock! The water was so clear and green. It was amazing!


Then we came across a quaint little church with some amazing stones. This cross is probably one of the nicest one I have seen since I started taking pictures of tombstones.


Back home to see my little female humming bird on her perch. She likes to sit on this branch and peruse her flower kingdom. Or maybe she just likes to sit here and take a break from her husband and babies.

I wish I could say that this picture is from the sky last night, it would have made a perfect day! Alas, I took this picture a week ago... but it's a nice ending to this blog post! Hope everyone is enjoying their Spring and Summer!

New! Grace Arm Warmer Pattern

I would like to introduce to the world at large my newest pattern: Grace Arm Warmers! I've decided I just can't call them wristwarmers... they do way more than keep just your hands and wrists warm!

The best of two worlds; elegance and funky, these arm warmers can give you two very different looks. The first look of pulling them up and wearing them as long gloves gives a real graceful, elegant look. The second look is a more contemporary grunge look by taking out the ribbons and wearing them slumped.

Either way they are an easy pair of fingerless gloves that are made entirely with a double crochet (dc) stitch using any worsted or medium weight yarn. Coming to my Store soon!

It's Not Really Cheating If...

Oh oh... I seem to have done it again! My yarn stash has increased once more! I really didn't mean to do it, but my Auntie gave me a whole bunch of yarn and how is a girl to refuse? I didn't want to hurt her feelings after all!


Just look at it all! For now I have just set the boxes in my "studio" and will gradually acclimatize my new stash with my old stash. I don't want to get tangled up in some big yarn brawl between the old and the new.


Just look at some of the new though! Actually, they really aren't new, they are planned projects that got replaced by newer projects. Been there, done that!


I have great plans for some of this stuff! The above is an entire bag of mohair blends in all my favourite colours! I can't wait and get started!


On another note, I have been taking a small break from the crocheting and I've been felting Santa Clauses, Snowmen and Christmas trees! This is my latest Santa and I will be listing him and many others when it is closer to Christmas.

Dissolving Resolution Part II

Oh dear... I did it again! I broke another New Year's Resolution! On the same line of my yarn stash, I decided that I was not allowed to buy any more books until I had read a large majority of the ones I had.


Well today was the Queen's County Historical Society's first Book Fair of the season. This is an absolutely fantastic sale where you can find all sorts of books ranging in price for $1.00 to $50.00!


I snatched up these leather bound books from the early 1900's for just $3.00 each!


A book of poems rests on two other beautifully bound books. All for $2.00 to $3.00 each!


I love the Art Deco pattern on this one! I wish they were in colours I liked better, but hey, for $2.00!!

A small stack of more contemporary books... a very small stack! So see, I really didn't buy that many books to read, I mostly bought books that were beautiful to look at! Did I really break the resolution that much? And this time it really was for a good cause! All proceeds go toward the restoration of the Anthony Flower House in Cambridge Narrows, New Brunswick..... and 'cause I wanted to!!

Dissolving Resolution

I made a New Year's Resolution that I would not buy any more yarn until I used up some of my already existing stash... well, sadly, in a moment of weakness, I broke down and ordered some new yarn!


Oh Happy Day! Just look at the bag of goodness that arrived right on my doorstep!


Soft pinks, blues, yellow, mauve, green, ahhh, a crocheter's heaven!

Don't worry though, it was all for a good cause... I bought it 'cause I wanted to!

Bird Feeder

All I can say is "Wow"! Little bits of gold flitting and fluttering through the budding trees to come to my humble feeder. Wow.

Button Brooch

Hmmm, why are reds so hard to photograph? This is a new felted brooch I've been working on, but how am I going to list it if I can't get the colour right? It is actually a maroon colour, not the bright red that it is showing. Back to the drawing board I guess!

Spring Weekend!

We went to an Antique Sale in our Provincial Capital, Fredericton, this weekend and I was so delighted with my outfit I just had to blog (or should I say brag) about it. The weather was a little chilly but I was determined to wear a skirt.
So I put on a skirt, black tights, my knee high boots, and a cute little jacket. To finish off the ensemble... my favorite Brunswick Bootwarmers! I've always loved this pattern and was glad to finally find an outfit to wear them with.

Favorite Things Friday

Not only am I'm running out of energy lately, I'm running out of things to blog about! I have lots of crochet projects on the go, but consider them "top secret" until I make more headway, so maybe I will make Friday's a day to show you some of my favorite things. This is a little mouse that my Mom painted on a very large conk this winter and after some hinting, she gave to me! Am I not the luckiest girl in the world to have such a talented and generous mother?
