Update

During the summer I wrote about the little kitten that I found on my doorstep that had a horrible gash on his underbelly that was, well, we will just say it was infected and not go into any of the gory details. We rushed him to the Vet and there he stayed for two nights and two days until his cut was clean of "infection".

After a few days being home, Wycket became braver and braver, but after a few weeks it was clear that Wycket was too much to handle in my small house that was already occupied by a once happy cat. After all that he went through, I didn't have the heart to put him outdoors again, Wycket is surely meant to be a house cat.

So off Wycket went to my Mom's heated garage! Oh, happy, happy was he! Lots of room to run around, lots of things to get into, places to climb, places to hide, happy, happy day! Wycket proceeded to grow and grow and grow, but he was still timid to wander about outside.

Yesterday, however, Wycket wanted outside, so outside he tumbled! What's that? Another cat! Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy......OUCH! A stray cat attacked him and ripped a piece out of his ear!

My poor Mom and Wycket! But I wonder? Did Wycket plan this attack all along? Because now Wycket is a permanent indoor cat and after just 24 hours of being inside, he has claimed his new spot....my Dad's leather sofa!

Lovely Present

I awoke Christmas morning to find my Amaryllis had opened that very morning! How on earth did I time that so right? I'm sure I'll never be able to time it so right again, but this year it was a certainly a lovely gift.

Happy Holidays!!!

For me, Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without my Christmas tree and my ornaments. You've seen some of my older cherished ornaments, but here are some of my newer ornaments.

I love the little smirk on Frosty's face!

This gold one just glows at night.

Who could resist a blown glass elephant and frog? Not me!

My in-laws have a red barn that looks exactly like this one.

Siamese cat and a Christmas tree with a present hanging below. I love ornaments that have attached ornaments.

Happy Holidays to all of you who celebrate this season, and all the best to each and everyone of you regardless of who or what you celebrate!

Treasury and Front Page Surprise!

I put this treasury together to honour our fine feathered friends. I love to watch the bird feeder in the winter and I couldn't resist adding these Etsian's lovely little birdies! Aren't they cute!

Last week I got a nice surprise! My purse pattern, Waves of Ruffles, was one of the items featured in this beautiful treasury that made it to the front page of Etsy! Thank you justEARRINGS.

Good Morning...I Think!

After a wild and windy night, this is what we woke up to. Snow, snow and some more snow.

Lots and lots of blowing snow is still piling up. It should end sometime this afternoon....I hope!

It looks pretty, but I sure don't want to go out and shovel!

Taken from my work room window. The snow stuck to the window and you can hardly see out it.

Happy Winter Solstice

We are expecting heavy snowfall this evening to welcome in the first day of winter. The Environment Canada Weather forecast states:

"Snow at times heavy and blowing snow beginning this evening. Amount 20 to 30 cm. Wind east 20 km/h increasing to 40 gusting to 60 this evening. Temperature rising to minus 2 by morning."

What will we wake up too? Will we be snowed in? Will it pass us by? Will we have a white Christmas? I guess I'll just have to go to bed and dream of snowflakes and hope for the best. Happy Winter everybody!

Wise Words

As I am approaching 500 sales on my Etsy store, a goal I never thought possible, I'm reminded of the above words sent to me by a very smart woman. Grab hold of that dream and don't let go!

Can You See Me?

I have this picture of my blown glass ornaments as my screen saver, and every time I look at it I can see another reflection of myself from when I took the picture! So far I've found myself eight times!

Christmas Dinner for the Parents

Not that I'm complaining because I love my little cottage house, but it is a little too small to host the large family dinners, so instead I like to invite my parents and my husband's parents for a special Christmas meal.

I forgot to take pictures of the food and the guests! Luckily I did manage to take a few quick shots of the table before everybody got here! I used my Winter Greetings Plates, and my red stemware for water and my gold etched stemware for Sparkling Cider.

My silverware, Floral Queen, was a gift from my parents the first Christmas we were married. For dinner we had turkey and dressing, green bean casserole, Italian strata, carrot salad and bread and butter pickles (thanks to my mother-in-law), oriental salad and cranberry chutney (thanks to my Mom), seafood salad, pickles and fancy pulled pork sandwiches. For desert we had cheesecake with cherries and whipped cream. Yummy!

Salt and Pepper shakers add that final whimsical Christmas touch!

Too Many Choices

For the past few years a good friend has invited us to wander the Christmas tree plantations and pick out whatever Christmas Tree we want. This was the first year at this plantation, and there were just too many to choose from!

Just look at the view and the choices! Incredible!

This one looks good! It even has pink and blue ribbons on it!

Choice made. Time to go home.

New Pattern - The Polar Ice Cap

I've been working on a new hat pattern but put it up to play Christmas for awhile. Today I have almost finished it! I just need to proof it a few more times and then I will list it. So at least here are some pictures of it! So I present to you: The Polar Ice Cap!

It can be made with either 2 strands of any medium or worsted weight yarn, like this red and white one. I used 100% wool in Briggs and Little for this one so that it will be nice and warm.

Or you can use the Homespun Yarn from Lion Brand for a really soft hat. They have the nicest selection of colours too.

I really like how this hat frames your face and you can actually wear your bangs out, instead of tucking them in for minimal "hat head". I also added some matching ribbons in the braids for a real personal touch.

Smiles All Around!

I simply love Christmas Decorations, they just make me SMILE!! It's the one time of year when you can just go WAY over the top!

This is part of set of Santa mugs that we used when we were kids. My two big brothers and I would come in from the barn, or ice skating on the pond, or a big snow ball fight and Mom would have hot chocolate heated on the wood stove for us. I smile every time I bring these out and think of those happy, happy times.

I picked this little guy up at a craft show I was in quite a few years ago. His pipe cleaner legs are starting to fall off, but he still makes me smile.

This fantastic elf was bought in a Christmas Store in Fredericton when I was at University (UNB). He traveled with me to every new apartment or house and was gently placed on my bed stand so that at Christmas time he would be the first thing I would see in the morning. He would put a smile on my face to think that exams would soon be over and I could go home. The little wobbly doll is something I've had since childhood and now, because of her colours, I bring her out at Christmas time.

This is another thing that always makes me smile. I love to pick out a tiny little Poinsettia, add some moss and plop it in a teacup. This the first year I couldn't find a pink one that I liked, but I'm pleased with the dark rich red of this one.

Oh Deer!

Look who came for breakfast at my Mom's yesterday morning!

As she was inside the house taking pictures of him, he got more and more curious and was peering in the window to see just what she was up to!

Wildlife Christmas

I like to decorate my kitchen window in a wildlife theme. Of course this lets me buy more blown glass ornaments!

A cute little bunny sitting next to a pine cone.

A raccoon begging for kitchen scraps!

Chickadee, squirrel and a little rabbit.

Another bunny with a silver acorn bell and a golden walnut.

A brother to the brown bunny, a beaver and that tiny little ball sitting in the tree is a hedgehog!

Sneak Peak

I'm working on my kitchen window sill, but I haven't quite got it right yet. Here is a sneak peak of what I have so far! More to come tomorrow!

Christmas Music and Special Memories

Last night while I was decorating the house, I was listening to a Christmas CD that I made of some of my favorite Christmas music. Notes of brilliance wafted through the house...Ave Maria, Greensleeves, Silver Bells, Edelweiss, The Muppet's.....The Muppet's?! Yes, the Muppet's Christmas Album is my all time Christmas favorite! Growing up in the country we didn't have access to all the Christmas music that we have today. Albums were hard to find and the money was tight, but John Denver and the Muppet's filled our old farm house with such cheer! I laugh at Miss Piggy's dismay at "Piggy Pudding!?", smile at Animal's break out of Christmas Cheer, dream about Alfie the Christmas tree and cry a little when I hear "When the River Meets the Sea". I had the best childhood! Thanks Mom!

Trimming The "Trees"

I simply love trees and having grown up in the forestry industry and then marrying a Forester, I allow myself to collect "Christmas Trees". I don't really have a choice, do I?

My forest of trees has expanded over the years and I have to move it to a bigger and bigger surface. The last two years it has found a place of honour on my fireplace in my bedroom.

This little Charlie Brown tree followed me home today!

This little tree helps me cover two collections: tree AND blown glass!

Opps, this little set followed me home today too!
