Northern Parula Warbler

Early this morning I heard a smack on my window. When I rushed over to see what it was, I saw this poor little guy laying at the bottom of the garden steps. I ran out to check on him before the cats investigated and picked him up and gently put him in the honeysuckle. Isn't he adorable?

Apple Blossoms and Ground Phlox

Are they anything more beautiful than Apple Blossoms? These ones are from the Crabtree just outside my window. We planted the tree the year we moved here and it gets more gorgeous every year.

Outside my front step is this lovely carpet of Ground Phlox. I saw an old cemetery this weekend that was just covered in it. I love the contrast of the fresh pink and the old white stones. There is beauty everywhere, you just have to keep your eyes open.

Hmmm, do I feel an inspiration coming on? I must go check my yarn stash! Gotta go!!!

Treasury!!!

I'm so pleased to have made another treasury! Thanks to Knitting Mette (http://www.knittingmette.etsy.com/) for choosing my Daylily Purse Pattern!

Daylily Purse Pattern

I finally finished my Daylily Purse Pattern for the May Challenge on EtsyFAST! I made my prototype in pink and made my final piece in blues. I know, I know, Daylilies don't come in blue, but I just love the soft hues!

Room With A View

These last few weeks, because of all the flooding that has occured in New Brunswick, we have had water front properity. According to CBC: "The flooding of the St. John River, which spans from Maine to Saint John, began with the spring snowmelt but was compounded by heavy rainfall last week." The first morning we had hundreds of ducks, but as the water rose the ducks left. We estimate 6-8 feet of water where farmers normally hay the fields in the summer! Today the ducks are back and the water is receding. I'm glad! I enjoy the green grass, the deer and the occasional fox far better!

I Made It!!!!!

I made my second treasury! Unfortunally I couldn't figure out how to feature the first one on my Blog, but I did manage to get this one on! Aren't the people at EtsyFAST talented? I'm already working on the May Challenge: Flowers. I'll give you a hint....look at the previous entry!

Something New

I've started a new pattern and a new style of crocheting for me. It's called Intarsia, I think! It's different than tapestry crochet because you don't carry your yarn with you but instead drop it and pick it up on the next round. It's fun, but you have to stop every so often and untangle your yarn. This one is my prototype, so you won't see it for sale, but I am working on the pattern. Stay tuned!

A Line Full of Wool

Forget the laundry! I would much rather have a line full of wool! I love the way these turned out. The last one on the line reminds me of those Popsicle that were blue, pink and white. I can't remember if they had a special name or not. I think I'll just call this colour "Popsicle". The middle skein has the must luscious fresh red and purple tones that remind me of fresh berries, hence the name, "Bumbleberry Ice cream". The first skein is called "Spring time in New Brunswick" since the bright green looks like the willow and popular buds that are now coming out against a beautiful blue sky.

Genealogy Family Tree Charts, 15 Generations

These are some Genealogy charts that I occasionally sell on Ebay (but if you are interested just email me!) I sell them for around $9.99 each, 2 for $18.50 and 3 for $24.97, with shipping included. They really are a great tool, any genealogy buff has to have one. Below is the description of them that I have on Ebay.
This 15 Generation Chart is just the right size for you to add all of the names that you want. Nine generations can fit on the front of the chart and there is space for 6 more generations on the back of the chart. These large charts measure 23" x 29" and are folded down to 8 1/2" x 10 3/4". They also have three punched holes so that they will fit into a standard notebook or binder and/or sleeve protectors. I will ship each chart with a sleeve protector in order to protect it from any damage in transit. I recommend hole reinforcements to prevent wear since this is one chart you will be using constantly.
This is a truly wonderful tool and a must have for any genealogy buff, historian or anyone just starting to trace their family origins. They make wonderful gifts for any family member, especially grandchildren who are just learning the dynamics of a family. These are wonderful for quick and easy reference. I use one for a working copy and one for good, which I have proudly hanging in my office.

Goedendag!

Dutchman's Breaches (Dicentra cucullaria) grows readily here, especially on interval land and near creek beds. It is the wild version of the Bleeding Heart variety that we all have in our gardens. A very dainty looking plant, but extremely hardy. It's obvious why it's called Dutchman's Breaches with it's dainty white blooms hanging like a pair of inflated trousers on the clothes line!
